What Northern Rock asked for

We were asked to implement and manage a 12-month search engine optimisation campaign to maximise the visibility of Northern Rock’s natural search listings for loans, mortgages and savings products. This was particularly challenging given the competition for high rankings in the consumer financial products sector.

What we did

We carried out competitor analysis and in-depth research into Northern Rock’s search market and identified over 400 keyword search terms to target.

Website health and search engine indexing issues were checked and fixed before the SEO strategy was implemented. This comprised of optimising the on-page, site-wide factors and off-site factors.

Copywriting services were incorporated into the campaign to ensure the content was both user-friendly and attractive to the search engines.

As part of this, we also implemented an ongoing affiliate marketing campaign to maximise Northern Rock’s off-site ranking factors and improve link popularity.

The results

An exceptional volume of traffic was generated through high-ranking listings for very popular and competitive search terms.

As a result, the SEO campaign attracted an additional 7.8 million targeted first-time visitors in a twelve-month period.
